It seems, today is the day when we get hit with another potential ice storm. This brings up a mindset that perhaps we should be prepared. Some ideas and questions, particularly if you are a homeowner:

Generator, DO YOU HAVE ONE?
Check your ROOF. Make sure that it’s sturdy and in good condition. Freezing rain is bad for roofs.
Secondary heating source, do you have one? Space heaters, if you use a generator, or do you have a kerosene/propane heater?
Carbon Monoxide Detectors are extremely useful, especially if you’re using a kerosene or propane heater.
Do you have a grill, or some sort of cooker? This isn’t necessary, unless you want warm foods.
Blankets: KEEP PLENTY OF THEM.
If you have a fireplace, make sure that the chimney is cleared of debris, and clean. Make sure you have a sufficient amount of firewood.
Close off most of your rooms, to help trap heat in the room that you will be using as living space during a power outage.
Driving: DO NOT ATTEMPT UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.

So that about does it for now, but I will have additional thoughts and ideas, later.
